
DIVING SPOTS AYIA NAPA-PROTARAS
Ayia Napa and Protaras offer amazing diving spots, with their warm, azure Mediterranean waters. Thanks to mild winters, diving is a year-round activity. The absence of strong underwater currents and close proximity of dive sites make Famagusta region an ideal destination for divers.
Diving schools across the area cater to divers of all levels, ensuring personalized experiences. Even children as young as eight can embark on special programs, guided by instructors, to explore the underwater realm safely.

MUSAN Underwater Museum
Opened in August 2021, MUSAN is the first underwater sculpture museum in the Mediterranean. Located approximately 200 meters off the coast of Ayia Napa, at a depth of 8–10 meters, it features over 90 artworks by renowned sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor. These sculptures, made from inert, pH-neutral materials, aim to attract marine life and create an artificial reef. The site is accessible to both divers and snorkelers, offering a unique blend of art and marine ecology.

The Caves
Part of the Cape Greco network of dive sites, Caves is characterised by natural stone formations and is favoured by new divers seeking an interesting and exciting underwater landscape.
There are two entry points; one with 1.5 metre drop-off and one with a three-metre drop-off. Divers can exit from the entry point, or the more daring can opt for the hole at the top of the cave.
The mesmerising array of geology to explore includes impressive lava rock and a rock that resembles the shape of Cyprus. The numerous through and through caves and the tunnels are peppered with coloured stones that glisten in the crystal-clear seawaters.
The small rocks and crevices are teeming with marine life, including bearded fireworms, bream, grouper, moray eels, ornate wrasse, octopi and turtles.

Cyclop’s Cave Diving Spot
Situated in Cape Greco, these picturesque dive sites are easily accessible from the shore. Divers can explore underwater landscapes adorned with Neptune grass, and encounter marine life such as damselfish, sea bream, groupers, octopus, turtles, Mediterranean moray eels, and elegant barracudas. Depths range from 7 to 40 meters, suitable for both certified divers and training dives.
The Liberty Wreck
The Liberty wreck was purposefully sunk off the Paralimni coast on May 27, 2009. This cargo ship is now home for many fishes and other marine life. Divers can enjoy the sight of various species of fish, moray eels, stingrays, lionfish and nudie branches.

Next to the Liberty and Nemesis wrecks there is also an artificial reef that is now the home for some amazing sea species. In a depth of 18 to 24 meters of water you can dive different figures and discover different fish, moray eels, octopods, sting rays and crabs. The dive site can be reached with a 10-minute boat ride.

Ayioi Anargyroi Chapel
A favorite among locals and tourists, Ayioi Anargyroi Chapel offers a dive site rich in history and marine life. Divers can explore areas with broken pottery and encounter species like groupers, damselfish, sea bream, and octopus. After the dive, adventurous individuals can enjoy a free jump into the water from a rock, adding an adrenaline rush to the experience.

Green Bay
Green Bay and Green Bay cave dive spot are ideal for novice divers staying in Ayia Napa or Protaras, because they are considered to offer quite shallow inlet. At Green Bay dive spot, divers can explore areas covered with encrusted old pottery fused into the rocks. The site is teeming with a variety of fish, and features ancient-looking Greek statues.
At Green Bay Cave dive spot there are a series of majestic through and through caves and caverns located close to the Green Bay diving site.
This easy dive is known for its spectacular marine life and is home to a large variety of fish, corals and colourful sea flora.

The Nemesis III Wreck
The Nemesis III wreck, sunk in 2013, lies at a depth of 24 meters near the Liberty Wreck in Protaras. This site is part of a marine conservation area, providing opportunities for easy penetration dives, making it an exciting spot for wreck diving enthusiasts. Divers can see lionfish, barracuda, stingrays, mackerel and other fish species here. Next to the two wrecks there is also an artificial reef that is now the home for some amazing sea species. In a depth of 18 to 24 meters of water you can dive different figures and discover different fish, moray eels, octopods, sting rays and crabs. The dive site can be reached with a 10-minute boat ride.

De Costa Dive Spot
This lovely, tranquil dive is situated in a protected area and is perfect for introductory dives, easing beginners in with a walk-in entry; a mostly flat and sandy surface; a lack of waves, and small, unassuming marine creatures.
Turtles are frequently sighted – at just 2-4 metres into the dive. Diving a little deeper, the series of submerged statues – including a mermaid, a lion and a dwarf – are also handy tools for beginners to practise their buoyancy.
The sandy bottom of Posidonia seagrass offers the perfect environment for cuttlefish to lay their eggs whilst the parents swim protectively around their future offspring. Barracuda and seahorses can also be spotted.

Canyon Dive Spot
Tucked beneath the cliffs on the southern side of Cape Greko, near the Tunnels and Caves dive site, lies the Canyon. Getting there involves some off-road driving followed by a demanding hike down the cliffs and two vertical ladders leading to the water. It’s not for the faint-hearted—good fitness and strength are a must. But for those who make the effort, the payoff is big: experienced divers are treated to striking underwater scenery, including towering rock walls, massive boulders, and more.

Blue Haze – Ammos tou Kambouri Dive Spot
Blue Haze is a popular dive site located at Ammos tou Kambouri Beach in Ayia Napa, Cyprus. It’s known for its easy beach access and shallow, sloping terrain, making it ideal for try dives and training sessions. Divers can enter from the beach or via a few steps, with the site reaching a maximum depth of around 6 meters.

Roman Harbor Dive Site
Roman Harbor Dive Site is in Protaras and is in close proximity to Octopus and Cyclops Cave dive sites. It has an easy entry from man-made steps to a shallow rocky reef. Beautiful open landscapes dotted with rocks and reefs, maximum depth 18 metres, with a long and interesting channel at 10m. Plenty of sea life including turtles, lionfish, jacks, sponges, nudibranchs, morays, groupers and many small fish. Nice easy dive for all levels.

Octopus Reef
This beautiful reef is named from its many channels that resemble octopus tentacles when viewed from above, rather than the sea creature, which is also abundant at the site.
The reef is equally enjoyablefor both beginners and advanced divers, and is also suitable for honing diving skills, including mapping, night diving, navigation and deep diving.
The dive is picturesque, with white sand, some Posidoniaseagrass andsmall rockswhere small fish, sea cucumbers and abundantsea anemones dwell.
Other marine life includes grouper, nudibranch, lionfish, moray eels, sea urchins, and of course the many octopi. Turtles can also be spotted.

Features: This old Greek navy boat has become home to a variety of marine life, including moray eels and groupers, which can be spotted in abundance.
Interesting Facts: This old war ship was donated by the Cyprus Ministry of Defence to be sunk in March 2015 for the purposes of creating an artificial reef, with the aim of encouraging the increase of marine life to the area.
