Achna
Achna Village
Nestled in the heart of the Famagusta District, Achna is a municipal quarter of Agia Napa Municipality, shaped by resilience and tradition. The current settlement, known as Dasaki Achnas (Achna Forest), was established after the 1974 Turkish invasion and is home to around 2,500 residents. Despite its challenging history, the village thrives with natural beauty, cultural landmarks, and family-friendly attractions.
Agios Demetrianos Memorial Church
This meaningful monument honors the refugees and missing persons of the 1974 invasion. It represents the very first makeshift church—once just a simple tent—and serves as a powerful symbol of hope and remembrance for those still unaccounted for.
Agios Georgios Church
One of the village’s historic gems, Agios Georgios Church is a recognized heritage site. Stepping inside feels like a journey through centuries of faith and local tradition.
Achna Dam
Nature lovers will appreciate the serene beauty of Achna Dam, a peaceful haven for migrating birds and a vital resource for local agriculture. Completed in 1988, the dam holds up to 6 million cubic meters of water at a depth of 6 meters. Its tranquil surroundings make it a perfect stop for birdwatching or a relaxing walk.
Animal Park
Just a short stroll from the dam, Achna Animal Park offers a delightful experience for families. Children can enjoy the playground, get close to friendly animals in the small zoo, and even take a donkey ride around the dam. Meanwhile, adults can unwind at the onsite cafeteria or restaurant with scenic views.
Speedway
For adrenaline seekers, Achna Speedway delivers the ultimate thrill. Since 2011, it has been Cyprus’s premier track for car and bike racing. The 2.2 km circuit features a variety of sharp turns and is ideal for Dragster, Drift, Go Karts, Motorbikes, and Stunt Bikes. The speedway also includes excellent facilities for both drivers and spectators, making it a must-visit for motorsport enthusiasts.
